The Miser And His Gold - Moral Story Book for Kids

An old miser lived alone in a house with a garden.

The Miser hid his gold coins beneath some rocks and grass.

Every night, he would go to this hidden spot to count his coins, relishing the sight of his wealth.

Despite his daily ritual, he never spent a single coin.

Treating his treasure as a source of pride rather than a means to improve his life.

One evening, a thief, aware of the miser’s habits, waited until the old man returned to his house.

Under the cover of darkness, the thief approached the hiding place and stole the gold coins.

The next morning, the miser discovered his treasure was gone and began to wail in despair.

Hearing his cries, a neighbor came over to ask what was wrong.

After learning about the theft, the neighbor questioned the miser,

“Why didn’t you keep the gold inside your house?

It would have been much easier to access when you needed to buy something.”

The miser replied, “Buy? I never intended to spend the gold. I only wanted to keep it.”

Upon hearing this, the neighbor tossed a stone into the pit and said,

“If you never planned to use the gold, then you might as well keep this stone.

It’s just as worthless as the treasure you’ve lost.”

Moral: A possession is just as worthy as what it is used for.

The miser’s story teaches us that wealth has no value if it’s never used. By hiding his gold, he gained no joy or benefit, only sorrow when it was gone. True richness lies not in hoarding but in wisely using what we have to improve our lives and help others.
