Can dogs see colour?

• For us human being, our eyes contain two types of cells called as rods and cons.
• Rod cell is responsible for detecting the light level and motion whereas cones cell is used for picking up the colour and analyse them accordingly.
• We have three types of cones allowing us to see red, blue and green colour.
• However, dog has only two types of cones allowing them to only detect blue and yellow colour.
• This limited perception of colour is called as dichromatic vision.

1. Even though dogs have less number of cone cell they have increased number of rod cell in their eyes allowing them to detect motion and light level much better than us.
