The Stupid Rabbit – Moral Story for Kids

The Stupid Rabbit – A moral story about panic and common sense.

A rabbit lives in a burrow under a bael tree in the forest.
Once there was a rabbit who lived in a burrow beneath a bael tree surrounded by palm woods.

A ripe bael fruit falls onto dry leaves, making a loud sound.
One sunny day, while the rabbit was lying outside enjoying the warmth of the sun, a ripe bael fruit suddenly fell onto the dry leaves under the tree. It made a strange, loud sound.

The rabbit panics, thinking the sound is the earth cracking.
The rabbit thought it was the sound of the earth cracking.

The frightened rabbit runs to save himself from imagined danger.
Filled with panic, he started running to save himself. When the other rabbits saw him running in fear, they asked:

The other rabbits ask why he is running so fast.
“Hey friend! Why are you running? What’s wrong?”

The rabbit shouts that the earth is cracking and urges everyone to run.
The rabbit didn’t stop. He shouted, “The earth is cracking! Run for your lives!”

All the rabbits start running in panic after hearing his warning.
Hearing this, all the other rabbits began running too.

Forest animals see the rabbits fleeing in fear.
When the other animals in the jungle saw the rabbits fleeing, they asked what was happening.

Animals hear that the earth is cracking and panic too.
Upon hearing that “the earth was cracking,” all the deer, pigs, blackbucks, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, cheetahs, tigers, and elephants also started running without a second thought.

Deer, pigs, buffaloes, tigers, and elephants start running.
When the lion, king of the jungle, saw the animals running wildly, he asked: “What’s going on? Why is everyone running?”

The lion asks the animals why everyone is running.
When he was told that the earth was cracking, he couldn’t believe it.

Animals tell the lion the earth is cracking.
“What? The earth cracking? That’s impossible!”

The lion says the earth cracking is impossible.
The animals insisted, “It’s true! The earth is definitely cracking!”

The animals insist the earth is definitely cracking.
The lion asked, “Who saw it?”

The lion demands to know who actually saw the earth crack.
One animal said, “The elephant knows.”

The tiger says the cheetah knows what happened.
The tiger said the cheetah knew.

The rhinoceros says he doesn’t know and blames the buffalo.
The cheetah said, “I don’t know. The rhinoceros knows.“

The buffalo says the blackbuck knows.
The rhinoceros responded, “No, my lord! I don’t know. The buffalo knows.”

The blackbuck says the pig knows the truth.
The buffalo replied, “Excuse me, my lord! I don’t know. The blackbuck knows.”

The pig says the deer knows what happened.
The blackbuck said the pig knew.

The deer says the rabbits know the real story.
The pig said, “I don’t know. The deer knows.”

Rabbits point to the first rabbit who started the panic.
The deer said, “The rabbits know.”

The lion asks the rabbit if he really saw the earth crack.
Then the rabbits pointed to the first rabbit and said, “He saw the earth cracking. He told us, and that’s why we started running.”

The rabbit says he clearly heard the earth cracking.
The lion asked him, “Friend, did you really see the earth cracking?”

The lion asks where he heard the supposed cracking sound.
The rabbit replied, “Yes, sir! I heard it clearly!”

The rabbit says he heard it under the bael tree near palm woods.
“Where?” asked the lion.

The lion follows the rabbit to the place where the sound occurred.
The rabbit explained, “I live under the bael tree near the palm woods. I heard the sound of the earth cracking at its roots.”

The scared rabbit points to the spot from a distance.
The lion did not believe him, so he asked the rabbit to take him to the spot.

The lion closely investigates the spot for the cause of the sound.
When they reached the woods, the lion asked, “Show me where you heard the sound.”

The lion finds a bael fruit lying on a dry leaf.
The rabbit, still frightened, pointed from a distance and said, “Right there, sir.”

The lion calls the rabbit foolish for panicking unnecessarily.
The lion walked closer, looked carefully, and saw a ripe bael fruit lying on a dry palm leaf. Everything became clear to him.

The lion explains that the sound came from the falling bael fruit.
He exclaimed, “Oh, you foolish rabbit! Can’t you see that this bael fruit fell onto the dry leaf? That is the sound you heard! You panicked for no reason and frightened everyone else, too.”

The animals learn the earth was not cracking at all.
The lion and the rabbit returned to the other animals and explained that the earth was not cracking. It had only been the sound of a falling bael fruit.

Moral: Don’t follow others blindly; use your common sense.
Moral: Do not follow others blindly. Always use your common sense.
The rabbit’s needless panic taught everyone a valuable lesson: always stay calm, observe, and use your common sense instead of blindly following rumors or fear.
