Easter Coloring Worksheets for Kids
Easter is the principal festival of Christianity, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is observed on the third day after his crucifixion. It is a day of joy and celebration to commemorate that Jesus Christ is risen.
The date on which Easter is celebrated each year is contingent upon changing of seasons. Hence, unlike Christmas which is celebrated on the 25th of December each year, there is no set date for the observance of Easter. It falls close to the vernal equinox (around March 20). The date of Easter changes from year to year as it always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. Since the festival celebrates the resurrection of Christ, it is quite symbolic that it falls close to the days of spring which symbolizes the birth of new life and the end of cold winter. Easter is celebrated with special church services, music, candlelight, flowers, and the ringing of church bells. Processions are held in some countries such as the Philippines and Spain.
