Where the Wind Wanders – Moral Story for Kids

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast and was in constant need of hired hands.
However, most people were hesitant to work on a farm.
In that area, due to the fierce storms that often swept in from the ocean, destroying crops and buildings.
As the farmer interviewed various applicants, he faced a string of refusals.
Then, one day, a short, slender man well past middle age approached the farmer.
“Are you a good farmhand?” the farmer asked.
The man replied, “I can sleep when the wind blows.” The farmer, puzzled but desperate for help, decided to hire him.
The man proved to be a diligent worker, putting in long hours from dawn until dusk.
Satisfied with his performance, the farmer felt relieved.
However, one night, a fierce wind began to howl from offshore.
Alarmed, the farmer jumped out of bed, grabbed a lantern, and rushed to the hired hand’s quarters.
He shook the man awake and shouted, “Get up! A storm is coming! We need to secure everything!”
The little man calmly replied, “No, sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.”
The farmer was furious and considered firing him on the spot.
Instead, he ran outside to prepare for the storm himself.
To his surprise, he found that all the haystacks were covered with tarpaulins.
The cows were safely in the barn.
The chickens were secured in their coops, and all doors and shutters were tightly fastened.
Everything was prepared for the storm. Realizing what the hired hand meant, the farmer returned to his bed, feeling a sense of peace.
He understood that because of the man’s preparedness, he could also rest easy while the wind howled outside.
Moral: True diligence and preparation allow you to stay calm even in the face of danger.
When the winds blow, they remind us of life’s unpredictable nature. Challenges may come suddenly, but with strength and courage, we can face them. Just like trees that bend but don’t break, we grow stronger through every storm. Winds may shake us, but they also help us stand tall.
