Emily had a mystery—every morning, one of her socks was missing!
Her mom blamed the dryer.
Her dad said she lost them.
Her little brother joked, “Maybe the Sock Monster took them!”
That night, Emily stayed up to watch.
Suddenly—rustle!
A tiny creature with big ears and frizzy hair tiptoed
across her room…
Emily tried to catch it, but it zipped under her bed.
The next night, she set a clever trap with yarn and
pillows. FLUMP!
The trap worked! Inside was the Sock Monster.
“I’m Poofle,” it squeaked. “I’m not stealing. I just
needed cozy socks to build my home under your bed.”
Emily peeked and saw the most amazing sock fort
cave! Tunnels, walls, and even a baby sock chandelier.
“You could’ve asked,” Emily said.
So they made a deal:
Poofle could borrow one sock a week, but had to return it
and write a note in Emily’s notebook.
Now, Emily always knows where her socks go… and has a
secret fuzzy friend who leaves her tiny treasures in return.
