- 1 + 80 + 200 + 5000 = 5,281
- 7000 + 600 + 9 + 20 = 7,629
- 800 + 9000 + 50 + 7 = 9,857
- 400 + 40 + 3000 + 5 = 3,445
- 1000 + 90 + 6 + 300 = 1,396
- 1 + 30 + 8000 + 900 = 8931
In this exercise, the first step is for kids to add the given number; after adding the number, they need to compare the result value with the total given value. Now subtract the result value from the total given value. Then assign variables to the resulting number, like x and y. Let’s take an example: add 80 + 200 = 280. Now subtract 5281 – 280 = 5001. Now assign variable x = 1 and y = 5000. So the missing value is 1 and 5000.
- 70 + 7000 + 2 + 50 = 7,572
- 40 + 9 + 800 + 2000 = 2,849
- 4 + 800 + 4000 + 70 = 4,874
- 300 + 9000 + 6 + 50 = 9,356
- 600 + 3 + 70 + 6000 = 6,673
- 50 + 2000 + 8 + 400 = 2,458
This exercise follows the same process that we have done above. Let’s take an example: Add 70 + 2 + 500 = 572. Now subtract 7572-570= 7000. So the missing value is 7000.
- 4000 + 1 + 200 + 20 = 4,221
- 100 + 60 + 8000 + 8 = 8,168
- 9 + 700 + 10 + 3000 = 3,719
- 30 + 2 + 5000 + 600 = 5,632
- 500 + 7000 + 60 + 5 = 7,565
- 3 + 50 + 900 + 1000 = 1,953
Doing the same exercise with different numbers can enhance kid’s math skills and also grab their attention because once they know the process, they find interest in this exercise. So the process will be the same. Let’s take an example: Add 1 + 20 = 21. Now subtract 4221-21 = 4200. Now assign variables x = 4000 and y = 200. So the missing numbers are 4000 and 200.
- 60 + 200 + 9 + 7000 = 7,269
- 3000 + 50 + 800 + 5 = 3,855
- 10 + 1000 + 9 + 900 = 1,919
- 6000 + 400 + 80 + 5 = 6,485
- 6 + 70 + 9000 + 300 = 9,376
- 400 + 7 + 5000 + 60 = 5,467
