Finding the missing value is an easy math exercise where kids need to identify an unknown digit in a number by calculating the others. This concept helps kids to understand the finding missing value system, especially for 4th graders. In the below, we provided four exercises and in each exercise, kids need to find the missing place value. This exercise will help kids improve their math skills.

Find The Missing Place Value (5-digits) Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 50,000 + 6,000 + 200 + 70 + 5 = 56,275
  • 8,000 + 300 + 20 + 70,000 + 3 = 78,323
  • 600 + 40,000 + 2,000 + 9 + 50 = 42,659
  • 2 + 100 + 90,000 + 6,000 + 30 = 96,132
  • 7,000 + 500 + 2 + 80 + 10,000 = 17,582
  • 900 + 70,000 + 20 + 2,000 + 4 = 72,924
  • 900 + 20,000 + 8,000 + 40 + 1 = 28,941
  • 300 + 20,000 + 1 + 10 + 8,000 = 28,311

In this exercise, there are a total of 8 queries that kids need to perform. The first step kids need to perform is to add the largest number first and then smaller. After adding all the numbers, now they need to compare the addition of the numbers with the total given result and then subtract the number. Let’s take an example: add numbers: 50,000+200+5=50,205 Now subtract it from a given number: 56,27550,205=6,070. Now assign variables x+y=6,070. Let’s say x = 6000 and y = 70. So the missing numbers are 6000 and 70.

  • 2,000 + 600 + 30,000 + 40 + 9 = 32,649
  • 2 + 8,000 + 10,000 + 80 + 400 = 18,482
  • 10 + 9,000 + 500 + 7 + 30,000 = 39,517
  • 3,000 + 6 + 80,000 + 500 + 40 = 83,546
  • 4 + 50,000 + 20 + 400 + 1,000 = 51,424
  • 700 + 5 + 2,000 + 30 + 60,000 = 62,735
  • 90 + 300 + 2 + 1,000 + 20,000 = 21,392
  • 1,000 + 10,000 + 700 + 40 + 2 = 11,742

In this exercise, the process will be the same; the first step is to add the largest number first and then smaller. After adding all the numbers, they need to compare the addition of the numbers with the total given result and then subtract the number. Let’s take an example: add 30,000 + 600 + 40 +

Find The Missing Place Value (5-digits) Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 900 + 6,000 + 3 + 10,000 + 30 = 16,933
  • 5 + 20,000 + 20 + 6,000 + 700 = 26,725
  • 100 + 9 + 7,000 + 30 + 30,000 = 37,139
  • 1,000 + 800 + 6 + 90,000 + 40 = 91,846
  • 400 + 1 + 7,000 + 30 + 70,000 = 77,431
  • 9 + 6,000 + 700 + 40 + 50,000 = 56,749
  • 7 + 500 + 9,000 + 70 + 10,000 = 19,577
  • 90 + 30,000 + 700 + 2 + 1,000 = 31,792

In this exercise, the number range has increased, but once the kids understand the process, they will be able to solve even high-range numbers and the process will be the same that was done above. Let’s understand by an example: Add 6000+900+3+30 = 6933.  Now subtract 16,933-6933 = 16000. So the missing number is 16000.

  • 400 + 2 + 20,000 + 7,000 + 80 = 27,482
  • 50,000 + 10 + 7,000 + 9 + 300 = 57,319
  • 4,000 + 700 + 60 + 90,000 + 7 = 94,767
  • 100 + 6 + 90 + 7,000 + 10,000 = 17,196
  • 5 + 9,000 + 400 + 50,000 + 60 = 59,465
  • 90 + 500 + 3,000 + 2 + 70,000 = 73,592
  • 6,000 + 30 + 500 + 60,000 + 8 = 66,538
  • 30,000 + 200 + 6 + 70 + 9,000 = 39,276

Solving these exercises will help kids to know basic addition knowledge. In this exercise, kids need to perform on their own and without any help. The process will be the same so we hope kids will perform without any assistance and if kids face any issue, then they can see solved examples.

Finding missing values in equations is a great exercise for 4th graders. It can help them to improve their problem-solving skills. By solving these queries, kids can break down complex problems into manageable parts, which makes their minds sharp. It will help them to improve their logical understanding of math. And these kinds of exercises will grab kids’s attention and make them more focused on math. So we hope these exercises will help kids to make math more engaging and entertaining.
