Once, in a deep jungle, there lived a cruel King lion.
He was cruel, selfish, and cared only about himself.
Whenever he had a chance, he would kill other animals, not because he needed to eat, but just for fun.
His hunger was never satisfied.
The animals in the jungle were very scared of him.
They knew that if things continued like this, the king would eventually kill all of them.
A group of animals decided that they would talk with the cruel king.
They wanted to make him realize his mistake. He should know that if there is no animal left in the jungle, there would be no food for the king himself.
They stood before the king, but none of them dared to speak up.
Finally, the wise old owl started, “Your majesty, we are here with a suggestion.
You have already killed almost half of the animals in the jungle. If this continues, soon the other half will be gone too. after
But then, Your Majesty, there will be no food left for you! What will you do then?”
The king thought to himself, “The old owl is right! If there are no animals left in this jungle, what will I do?”
He cleared his throat and asked the owl, “So, what do you suggest? Should I stop hunting? Or should I starve?”
As he said this, he clenched his sharp teeth, which frightened every animal present.
The owl let out a soft cry and spoke in a low voice, “No, Your Majesty, we don’t want you to starve.
That’s why we suggest you stop hunting. Instead, we will send one of us each day to your den as your food.”
The king was pleased with this suggestion. He said, “That will save me some energy.
But remember, if you fail to send me my meal, I will kill all of you!”
The animals, trembling with fear, agreed to the king’s demand. They praised their cruel king and left.
From the next day onwards, one animal was chosen to walk to the king’s den and become his meal.
Some days later, it was the turn of a thin and clever rabbit to fulfill his duty.
The rabbit did not want to die at the hands of the king. He thought hard about how he could deceive the cruel king.
On his way to the den, he passed by a small well near the king’s den.
When the rabbit looked into the water, he saw his reflection. A brilliant plan crossed his mind.
Just then, the impatient king came out of his den and saw the rabbit.
He grumbled in disappointment, “This rabbit is so thin! How will he satisfy my hunger!”
Seizing the opportunity, the rabbit said, “Your Highness, my animal friends chose four of us to be your honored meal.”
“But then, while we were walking, another strong lion chased us! He claimed to be even stronger than you and ate the other three rabbits.”
Look, he’s in this well, waiting for you. He said he will defeat you!”
The lion’s anger grew and he let out a loud roar. He went near the well and looked down.
Indeed, he saw a lion in the well. He roared even louder into the well, and the sound echoed back.
The lion couldn’t control his rage and jumped into the well. Splash!
But he didn’t know how to swim.
He tried to climb out of the well, but all his efforts were in vain. He drowned and died.
The clever rabbit had used his cunning mind to save the jungle from the cruel king.
Everyone hailed the thin rabbit as their hero for saving their lives.
