Convert to Expanded Place Value Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 7,392 = 7,000 + 300 + 90 + 2
  • 22,528 =  20,000 + 2,000 + 500 + 20 + 8
  • 3,852 = 3,000 + 800 + 50 + 2
  • 8,539 = 8,000 + 500 + 30 + 9
  • 16,732 = 10,000 + 6,000 + 700 + 30 + 2
  • 37,920 = 30,000 + 7,000 + 900 + 20
  • 695 = 600 + 90 + 5
  • 4,637 = 4,000 + 600 + 30 + 7
  • 13,243 = 10,000 + 3,000 + 200 + 40 + 3

In this exercise, there are a total of nine queries, and for each query, we have to convert the normal numbers into their expanded form by following some rules. The first step is to find out the number’s place value, and this process is applied to every number. Let’s understand this exercise through an example: 7,392. In this number, look at the 7; 7 is situated at the thousands place, so 7*1000 = 7000. Now look at 3; this number is situated at hundred, so 3*100 = 300, and the same for the rest: 9*10 = 90, and 2*1 = 2. Now add all the numbers: 7,000+300+90+2. Adding all the numbers, if we are getting the normal form, then our expanded form is correct. So the expanded form for 7,392 is 7,000+300+90+2.

Convert to Expanded Place Value Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 879 = 800 + 70 + 9
  • 7,492 = 7,000 + 400 + 90 + 2
  • 9,548 = 9,000 + 500 + 40 + 8
  • 19,518 = 10,000 + 9000 + 500 + 10 + 8
  • 476 = 400 + 70 + 6
  • 37,826 = 30,000 + 7,000 + 800 + 20 + 6
  • 5,926 = 5,000 + 900 + 20 + 6
  • 28,540 = 20,000 + 8,000 + 500 + 40
  • 35,471 = 30,000 + 5,000 + 400 + 70 + 1

This exercise will help kids understand basic mathematical calculations. In this exercise, we have a total of nine queries with different numbers, so we have to solve all these queries. And for every query, the process will be the same. Let’s understand through an example: 37,826. In this number, look at 3. It is placed on a thousand, so 3*10000 = 30000, and 7*1000 = 7000, and the same for the rest: 8*100 = 800, 2*10 = 20, 6*1 = 6.  Adding all the numbers, if we are getting the normal form, it means the expanded form is correct. 30,000 + 7,000 + 800 + 20 + 6 = 37,826. So the final expanded form is 30,000++ 7,000 + 800 + 20 + 6.

Convert to Expanded Place Value Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 4,820 = 4,000 + 800 + 20
  • 14,735 = 10,000 + 4,000 + 700 + 30 + 5
  • 57,846 = 50,000 + 7,000 + 800 + 40 + 6
  • 3,952 = 3,000 + 900 + 50 + 2
  • 84,537 = 80,000 + 4,000 + 500 + 30 + 7
  • 622 = 600 + 20 + 2
  • 1,946 = 1,000 + 900 + 40 + 6
  • 19,552 = 10,000 + 9,000 + 500 + 50 + 2
  • 8,261 = 8,000 + 200 + 60 + 1

This concept will help improve kids’ critical thinking and encourage them to solve more complex problems. In this exercise, the process will be the same; we have to follow the same rule. Let’s understand through an example: 4,820. Look at 4: this number is placed on a hundred, so 4*1000 = 4000. Now the same for the rest: 8*100=800, 2*10=20, 0*1=0. So the final expanded form for the number 4,820 is 4,000 + 800 + 20.

Convert to Expanded Place Value Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 7,438 = 7,000 + 400 + 30 + 8
  • 29,587 = 20,000 + 9,000 + 500 + 80 + 7
  • 748 = 700 + 40 + 8
  • 4,671 = 4,000 + 600 + 70 + 1
  • 67,930 = 60,000 + 7,000 + 900 + 30
  • 1,265 = 1,000 + 200 + 60 + 5
  • 22,718 = 20,000 + 2,000 + 700 + 10 + 8
  • 372 = 300 + 70 + 2
  • 61,846 = 60,000 + 1,000 + 800 + 40 + 6

In this exercise, the numbers are slightly higher than the previous ones, but there is no need to worry; if kids know the process and how to solve these queries, then they can solve more complex numbers. For better understanding, let’s take an example: 61,846. As per the process, look at 6. This number is situated on a ten thousand, so 6*10000 = 60000, and the same for the rest: 1*1000, 8*100 = 800, 4*10= 40, 6*1 = 6. So the final expanded form is 60,000 + 1,000 + 800 + 40 + 6.

Convert to Expanded Place Value Worksheet For Grade 4

  • 24,524 = 20,000 + 4,000 + 500 + 20 + 4
  • 3,645 = 3,000 + 600 + 40 + 5
  • 44,123 = 40,000 + 4,000 + 100 + 20 + 3
  • 7,550 = 7,000 + 500 + 50
  • 73,983 = 70,000 + 3,000 + 900 + 80 + 3
  • 1,688 = 1,000 + 600 + 80 + 8
  • 3,541 = 3,000 + 500 + 40 + 1
  • 85,224 = 80,000 + 5,000 + 200 + 20 + 4
  • 92,734 = 90,000 + 2,000 + 700 + 30 + 4

This concept will build confidence and help kids to make their math strong. We also want kids to be confident and solve queries without any help. So we assume kids now understand the process, and they can solve this exercise on their own.
